The currency of Lithuania is the Lithuanian Lita, with one Lita equalling 100 Centas. Notes come in denominations of Lt500, 200, 100, 50, 20, 10, 5, 2 and 1, with coins coming in denominations of Lt5, 2 and 1, and 50, 20, 10, 5, 2 and 1 Centas, though this coinage is worthless. Money can be easily exchanged in bureau de changes and banks. Traveller’s cheques are not widely accepted, just in certain exchange points – to avoid additional conversion charges the cheques should be made out in US Dollars. ATMs are widespread through most towns and the majority of major international credit and debit cards are accepted in larger hotels, shops, restaurants and some petrol stations.
